Chef Alan’s long-time passion for cooking ranges all the way from frying the perfect breakfast egg to a creating very detailed fine dining dish. Growing up in South Africa, Chef Alan’s heritage always taught him not only the value of hard work, especially in the chef industry, but also the importance of being resourceful. After graduating from law school, he decided to follow his passion and attended a prestigious culinary school in South Africa, all while living with his brother who was also a chef, and creating global dishes with him to make ends meet due to financial difficulties. Chef Alan was eventually appointed as the chef de cuisine for the fine dining restaurant in the most famous 5-star hotel in Cape Town. Afterwards, he moved to Spain for 19 years, where was employed by an Austrian executive chef to be his sous chef in a fine dining European restaurant in a well-known hotel group.
After more than a decade of dedicated service, he embarked on a new chapter of his career with Rotana, bringing his wealth of experience to the United Arab Emirates. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Executive Chef at Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, where he continues to showcase his culinary expertise. With a rich culinary history, he is committed to enhancing the skills of fellow chefs, imparting knowledge, and fostering culinary excellence in every way possible.
