At Rotana Hotels Lebanon and as part of Rotana's commitment to long-term sustainability efforts, we are working every day on reducing our environmental impact.
Example of initiatives adopted by Rotana Hotels in Beirut:
Green Meetings:
For 2019, Rotana is aiming to have its Meeting rooms going Green! Meeting rooms will be equipped with Recycling bins, water jugs instead of plastic bottles, whiteboards instead of paper flip charts, bulk stationaries instead of an individual.
Energy:
In order to reduce the energy consumption and reduce in consequence the environmental harm, all light bulbs have been replaced with LED; movement detectors have been installed in the majority of the public areas in addition to timers in the guest corridors to reduce the lighting level at certain timings. Light balconies are switched off at 2 AM daily as well.
Water:
Infrared water taps have been adopted in the public areas WC’s as an initiative to decrease water consumption. Guest cards for bed sheets and towel change in the rooms are used as awareness and as a choice to re-use them as part of the sustainability program.
Paper:
Double-sided printing has been implemented to help save trees and decrease the use of paper by 50%
Plastic:
Both properties were aiming to ban the use of plastic cups in 2019 by saving around 20.000 cups monthly. The initiative was completed in 2019 and still being implemented. In addition, a new policy is to be implemented during the year reducing the use of plastic straws by 50% and replacing them with eco-friendly alternatives.
Internal Recycling Program in collaboration with Arc en Ciel:
Both properties have been sorting materials such as cardboard, paper, plastic to be collected and recycled by Arc En Ciel. More than 3000 kg of recyclable items -per property- have been collected in 2018
