Supporting Lebanon: Ways to make a difference

Lebanon, a small yet historically rich country on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea, is known for its vibrant culture, diverse population, and stunning landscapes. However, the ongoing war has profoundly affected its citizens, resulting in significant loss of life, widespread destruction of infrastructure, and the displacement of numerous communities.

Many families have been forced to flee their homes, seeking refuge in overcrowded shelters or with relatives. The constant threat of violence has disrupted daily life, making it difficult for people to access essential services such as food, water, and medical care.

In response to these challenges, numerous NGOs are doing the impossible to help the citizens of Lebanon, working tirelessly to provide emergency relief, medical support, food assistance, mental health services, and more.

Beit El Baraka

Founded by Maya Chams Ibrahimchah in 2018, a passionate advocate for social justice and human rights, Beit El Baraka is a Lebanese non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to supporting Lebanese citizens and ensuring that they can live with dignity, regardless of their financial situation.
Since its inception, the organization has provided essential services to thousands of families, including a free supermarket, medical treatments, and restored apartments.

Through its "Kanz" initiative, Beit el Baraka has also empowered local farmers and producers, contributing to the revitalization of the Lebanese economy.
The organization's unwavering commitment to preserving dignity and promoting social justice has made it a beacon of hope for many in Lebanon.

Rotana Hotels Lebanon successfully collected donations for Beit El Baraka, including 932 essential food items (sugar, flour, meat, lentils, spaghetti, sodas, …), 561 hygienic products items (shampoo, toothpaste, diapers, wet wipes, woman pads, …), 17 home necessities items (mattress, blankets, towels, pillows, …) as well as 211 toys for kids and clothes.

If you want to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities in Lebanon, you can contribute to Beit El Baraka. Your support helps provide essential services like food, housing, and medical care to those in need.

Lebanese Food Bank

The Lebanese Food Bank (LFB) is a non- profit organization founded by the late Mr. Kamal Sinno dedicated to combating hunger across Lebanon. Driven by a vision of a hunger-free Lebanon, LFB works tirelessly to collect surplus food from various sources, including restaurants, supermarkets and farms to redistribute it to families in need.

Lebanese Food Bank’s goal doesn’t end there, as it extends beyond food distribution. The organization also runs awareness programs aimed at educating communities about the importance of food security and waste reduction.
During the tough Covid-19 pandemic period, the Lebanese Food Bank (LFB) teamed up with Beit El Baraka and SEAL USA in order to distribute over 42,874 food boxes across districts, with the help and support of the Lebanese Armed Forces and 110 NGOs.
Then came the catastrophic explosion at the port of Beirut on August 4, 2020, which claimed the lives of more than 220 people. In response to this tragedy, the LFB team, alongside a group of dedicated volunteers, sprang into action. They set up four booths in 4 different areas to provide immediate food relief.

Rotana Hotels Lebanon also supported the cause by ensuring 100 cover cooking food to the Lebanese Food Bank on a daily basis, and to date, they have provided 3,500 meals.

To make a lasting impact on those struggling with food insecurity in Lebanon, think about supporting the Lebanese Food Bank. Your donations can offer essential nourishment and support to the most vulnerable, helping to build a future free from hunger.

UNICEF

UNICEF, established in 1946, plays a vital role in helping children and families worldwide. In Lebanon, with the ongoing conflict, their work has been essential.

Since the conflict’s escalation on the 17th of September, UNICEF has been actively providing emergency aid. They’ve supplied clean water, hygiene kits and food to displaced families, as well as set up temporary shelters with blankets and hygiene items for comfort and safety.

UNICEF also focuses on education and child protection, where they created safe spaces for kids to continue their schooling and receive emotional support. They also provided necessary nutrition with baby food and supplements to young children.
