Dubai, January 30, 2012 - Rose Rayhaan by Rotana Dubai, the world’s tallest hotel as declared in the Guinness Book of World Records, celebrated its 2nd anniversary with an exciting, record breaking feat as renowned Polish cyclist Krystian Herba achieved a new world record for Stair Climbing by Bicycle by conquering 2040 steps of the iconic hotel in 1 hour, 13 minutes and 41 seconds.

The historical climb started at 11 am after a small start-off ceremony attended by the UAE media, Polish supporters, the hotel’s VIP guests and the management team of Rotana. It was a slow start for Krystian as he tried to acquire his momentum, but as he reached the upper floors, he started to climb with such an impressive speed showing his intense confidence.

To complete his 2040 step target, he climbed his way up to the 23rd floor, then went down to the ground floor through the lift, and once again made his way back up until he reached the finish line at the hotel’s 68th floor. It was an emotional moment for Krystian as he laid on the ground  at the finish line finding it hard to believe he had indeed made the mark as the new world record holder.

He commented “What I just accomplished was a defining triumph in my career and I cannot express how happy I am to be able to get the new world record at Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, the tallest hotel in the world. This is indeed a dream come true for me!” The old record in Stair Climbing by Bicycle was previously done in China with 2008 steps and has remained undefeated for the past four years until today.
