Arjaan by Rotana - Dubai Media City was proud to sponsor their Star Athlete 'Stephen Kanyi' from the Recreation team to participate in the 21st edition of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon. 

Around 5,000 people entered the event with runners spread across the Marathon and the associated 10 km Road Race and 4 km Fun Run. The start & finish of the Marathon and 10 km was on the Umm Suqeim Road opposite the Madinat Jumeirah and in the shadow of the iconic Burj Al Arab. 

The 10 km road race started at 8:15 am where individuals and companies from all over the United Arab Emirates had participated. Over 2300 registrations were recorded for all categories including Elite, (42 km marathon), 10 km Standard Race and 4 km Fun Run for families. It was a proud moment for Arjaan Rotana Dubai to witness that Stephen had successfully completed the 10 km Fast Runner challenge in around 40 minutes and was awarded a certificate and a medal from the organizers.  

Live bands and a selection of other activities were available at the Marathon Village throughout the day to entertain the participants and spectators which were great in numbers. Food and Beverage facilities were also made available at the Marathon Village. 

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and under the aegis of the Dubai Sports Council, with Standard Chartered as title sponsor, the Dubai Marathon is also supported by adidas, Dubai Holding, Masafi, Channel 4 Radio Network, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police and the RTA.
