In the heart of Lebanon, where the echoes of history blend with the vibrant pulse of modern life, the Lebanese Food Bank (LFB) stands as a testament to the power of community and compassion. Founded in 2011 by a group of visionary Lebanese entrepreneurs, the LFB has been unwavering in its mission to combat hunger and reduce food waste across the nation.
The Lebanese Food Bank’s mission is clear: to alleviate hunger and promote environmental sustainability by collecting surplus food and distributing it to those in need. This mission is carried out without discrimination based on religion, political affiliation, geographic location, sexual orientation, race, or nationality. The vision of the LFB is equally ambitious—a hunger-free Lebanon by 2030, where no one goes to bed hungry.
Over the years, the LFB has made significant strides in narrowing the malnourishment gap in Lebanon. During the COVID-19 pandemic, in collaboration with Beit El Baraka and SEAL USA, the LFB distributed over 42,874 food boxes across 25 districts, supporting countless families during one of the country’s darkest periods. Following the devastating Beirut port explosion in August 2020, the LFB mobilized swiftly, providing more than 32,000 hot meals to affected individuals in the hardest-hit areas.
In response to the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, the Lebanese Food Bank has ramped up its efforts to provide essential support to those impacted. The organization is diligently distributing ready-to-eat food rations, hot meals, and food parcels to families displaced by the violence. By partnering with local and international organizations, the LFB ensures that food supplies reach shelters and communities in need, offering a vital lifeline to thousands during these challenging times.
